Feeling blah

I've been seriously neglecting my blog this month. It's partially due to the work situation - trying to keep up with four part-time jobs is really wearing on me. It's also partially due to the fact that I feel I have nothing of substance to say lately - I'm tired of talking about my crap-ass job situation, the racism of my family, the annoying tourists, blah, blah, blah. Oh, there's also a small part of me that feels guilty for not posting over at The Active Academic, which is causing me avoid blogging all together. I haven't even introduced myself yet. I feel like such a frickin' slacker right now. I'm also disgusted and exasperated with myself in so many ways.

In better news... I had a wonderful last class with my Chinese ESL students. They all gave me little gifts that they had brought from China (including a beautiful jade Buddha necklace). I received four invitations to stay with various students if I ever want to visit China, and two of the girls started crying right before they walked out of the classroom. They were the most sweet and respectful group of students I've ever had and I'm really going to miss them.

Two of the students brought me scarves and said I need to wear them to work because scarves are the sign of a professional woman. (Buddha necklace is on the left, in the box)

I think the thing on the left is a cell phone holder... or maybe it's a change purse(?)

In the black container, there are pumpkin seeds dusted with green tea. Quite tasty!

I'm right there with you on this no blogging thing. I feel simply tapped out right now. I'm still reading everyone else's blogs, but I'm not doing well at actually saying anything about my life. I fear I will bore you all....

I'm loving the Chinese students in your ESL class. I visited China for 6 weeks back in the early 80's when I was just a high schooler myself and the gifts you got remind me of that time and my interactions with college students there. They were so serious about their studies and held their professors in the highest regard. Would that we all had that kid of respect for learning. ;)

I can't imagine what those green tea seeds taste like! Love it.

I love presents, and you seem to get an awful lot of them!
