Woo-hoo!

I have some fantastic, super-fabulous news.

Do you want to know what it is?

Do you really want to know?

Really???

Okay, I'll share. :)

On Friday, I was offered a full-time faculty member position at one of the colleges I've been adjuncting for during the past year (Large College). The position also includes coordinating the college's Freshman Experience program, which is a retention/get to know the college/get to know Chicago program.

Although Large College is definitely not my ideal school*, it's a step in the right direction. It will give me the much needed experience and title for my CV. Also, having taught there for the past year, I know what I'm getting myself into and what they expect from me.

It was a whirlwind interview process, as the former instructor just resigned three weeks ago and they were determined to hire someone before the start of the next term (which happens to be tomorrow!). My department chair asked me to apply the same day former instructor gave her resignation and said he was going to recommend me to the dean (this was before the job announcement was posted). Almost two weeks later, three of us were interviewed by department chair (although mine wasn't a formal interview because dc already said he wanted to hire me, but the final decision wasn't his) and then last week, two of us were interviewed by dean & assistant dean. Oddly enough, my final competition was an adjunct whom I had recommended for a position there last term (she used to teach part-time for me at full-time job).

Thankfully, Large College and full-time job are in close proximity & my schedule is quite manageable, so I can continue to work at full-time job through June 15th, which is our last day anyway (furlough starts after that). I'm not going to tell f-t job about my new position until after then so that I can collect my final paycheck.

Yay! :)

Finally!!!!!!!!
