These are two of my favorite photos from the beach in South Haven (shortly after we arrived in Michigan last Friday afternoon). It was really windy and nippy, but everything was so pretty. The waves were out of control and it was only in the mid-50s, but there were still quite a few (crazy) people out there windsurfing and playing in the water.

Despite the chilly water, RL and I had to get in on the action, too. After all, we're also crazy, right?

(damn cold water!)
The next day, we took a two-hour sunset sail on the Friends Good Will. Neither RL nor I had any idea we were going to have to work (we had to help hoist the sails) or that the crew would be so nutty (they dressed like pirates and sang naughty songs). It was an experience I will definitely never forget. :)

Captain Bob and some of the crew in the middle of a song about pillaging a fair maiden. Arrrg!
Another member of the crew...

We alternated between referring to him as the Salty Seaman and the Crusty Seaman. :)

The sunset was beautiful, but most of my photos didn't turn out too well - do you know how hard it is to take a non-blurry photo on a moving ship in semi-choppy water? Yeah, it's not easy at all.
We spent the last day in Saugatuck. There was a pretty boy:

a pretty beach:

and pretty ice cream:

Superman!!!
It was a fantastic weekend and I had a fabulous time hanging out with RL. I can't wait for our next adventure! :)
More photos here!
Even more photos and such at RL's place!

Lovely pics, comebacknikki!!! Glad you had such a great time. The ice-cream does look pretty, but what flavour is it?!
Omg, I just found out that "Superman" is an ice-cream flavour!!?! Clearly, there are some things that don't cross the Atlantic! It looks SO cute though - I must try it the next time I'm in the States!
I miss Michigan a lot (I was born there - left when I was 10, and lived there, briefly, after grad school). It looks like you had fun.
codfish: It's SO GOOD! Real Superman is made of lemon, Blue Moon, and Red Pop flavors. It's really popular in Michigan and some other parts of the midwest and east coast, but not so much everywhere else.
The store stuff is not as good b/c they usually replace the RP flavor with cherry and the BM with bubblegum. Real Superman kind of tastes like Fruity Pebbles or Tutti Frutti Jelly Bellys.
Hey, that's me in one of those photos :-)
And the pretty boy was oh, so very pretty indeed!
Oh, and I can't believe you posted that nasty photo of Salty Seaman!
Nice pics! I visted there a couple times. (Father worked at Palisades for a few years.)
