Catchin' up

I had a fantastic time in Michigan hanging out with my friend, MT, and two of her friends (they used to live in Chicago & recently moved to Kalamazoo and bought the house across the street from MT). We spent Friday night doing a lot of this:

We also did this (very late at night, in MT's back yard):

They popped my hookah cherry!

We spent the rest of the weekend running around the state and visiting various apple orchards and haunted houses, including this one, which is endorsed by Alice Cooper. And really, who is scarier than Alice Cooper? Just for the record - it was very scary. The boys both screamed like little girls and clung to MT and me throughout the entire tour. :)

I returned to Chicago late Sunday night and have been on overdrive ever since then. It's the end of the second summer term, and I've been dealing with final exams and paper grading (btw - the student I referenced in my last post totally failed his final - he got a 34%). Thankfully, Tuesday is the last day and then there's a five day break before the fall term begins. I've also been trying to enjoy my favorite month and favorite season, but it hasn't been so great so far - it shouldn't be 80-90 degrees in the Midwest during October!

The next week is going to be crazy, but it's mostly filled with fun activities. Tomorrow, I'm meeting repressed librarian for some shopping and to attend yet another apple-related activity (can you tell I like apples?). Then, there's the trip to Wicked on Wednesday; birthday fun with M on Thursday; a big important interview on Friday (more about this later); and more birthday activities with my friends on Saturday. Yay! :)

How did "the genius" do on the exam?

He's in a class that spans two terms, so he didn't take the final.

His papers are fairly average - not at all what I would expect from a genius.
