I have so many things to say (including a detailed follow-up on the underwear situation!), but I'm too busy freaking out about my impending dental appointment to actually form some coherent thoughts about anything not related to my teeth. I'm dreading tomorrow's appointment even more than usual because I know from experience just how horrible I'm going to feel before (knots in my tummy & a stress headache), during (evil needles, scary noises & instruments, and mouth pressure from hell), and after (sooo much pain!).
I've been trying to avoid it, but now I have no choice: I have to get my remaining two wisdom teeth removed. I had the other two pulled back in '02 and I still haven't fully recovered from that horrible episode... the sound of my tooth breaking in half while the dentist groaned from exertion and cussed ("fucking deep tooth!") is not something I'm likely to ever forget. The giant smear of blood he forgot to wipe off my cheek, along with the nasty pool of his sweat that dripped into my eyes (ugh!) were both just added bonuses.
I have started seeing a new dentist since I had the first two teeth pulled (I'm now with Hot Dentist's partner - HD moved to the 'burbs & opened his own practice) and he has been great thus far (well, as great as an evil dentist can be). Although he's no HD looks-wise, he's very immaculate and always clad in Prada loafers - I really can't imagine any groaning or sweating coming from him, so I'm sure I won't have a complete repeat of the last time. But there's still the pain... oh, the pain... the pain that lasts for weeks afterward. :(

I hope it goes well, and that you don't have much pain. Will you be under sedation? I had my wisdom teeth pulled all at once while I had twilight sedation, and it wasn't really bad at all. Ask for the good drugs. :) Remember, no using straws afterwards for a while!
I just tried to post a long comment, which got swallowed up into the ether, so I will sum up:
Good luck, swish with salt water, and demand good drugs.
I would like to echo the "ask for the good drugs" comments!
holy shit, what kind of sedation did they use the first time around? I had all four plus a really bad broken molar removed two years agao and they used something they called, "Twilight"...as the dentist said, "you'll be coherent, but you won't mind me taking your teeth out". I ended up sleeping through the whole thing. They woke me up halfway through, but I went right back to sleep.
I hope this time around wasn't as bad.
HEY; thanks for dropping by my blog. Feels like forever since I've visited you.
I remember having two wisdom teeth out during the summer after my last year in high school. TOTAL BUMMER. You have tons of sympathy coming from me. And gentle Bear hugs, if they'll help.
@ Diana: They only gave me the regular shots (just more of them than usual) - no sedation. :(
